  • to help pupils develop numerical skills and to apply these effectively

  • to develop an interest in science, technology and the natural world

  • to encourage children to express themselves through music, drama and a range of arts and crafts and to develop concepts and skills in this area of the curriculum

  • to impart to children an understanding of the history and geography of the environment in which they live and beyond

  • to help pupils to develop their physical co-ordination and confidence;

  • to help pupils to develop a respect for religious and moral values, as well as tolerance of other races, religions and ways of life
